General Chemistry I covers the basic principles of chemistry with emphasis upon stoichiometry, periodic properties of the elements and the correlation between electronic configurations of the elements and these properties. The laboratory emphasizes both the qualitative and quantitative aspects of chemistry. The corequisite for this course is college algebra (MATH 11003 (MATH 1103)).

High school algebra or departmental approval.
