College-Level Course Placement

PCCUA uses placement scores, and in some instances, additional measures to enroll students in college-level coursework. PCCUA uses ACT and/or Next-Generation (NG) ACCUPLACER scores to determine students’ skill levels in English, reading, and math.

Students must achieve a score of 19 or higher on the ACT in English, reading, and math, or the equivalent score on the NG ACCUPLACER, to enroll in college-level courses in each area. Students who do not meet these placement standards will be assessed using Multiple Measures, which may include high school GPA or grades in specific courses, to determine eligibility for college-level courses.
See Appendix A for placement chart.
