EMT 1010: Emergency Medical Training

This course follows the USDOT National Standard Curriculum for EMT-Basic. Medical emergencies and traumatic injuries, with emphasis on life-threatening conditions, are explored. Skills taught include management of oral and nasopharyngeal airways, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use of an automated external deļ¬brillator (AED), as well as spinal immobilization and splinting. Additionally, students are trained to assist individuals with self-administered medications and automobile extrication. Upon successful completion of this course, students are eligible to apply to take the State of Arkansas and National Registry EMT-Basic practical and written examinations for certiļ¬cation.
