This course is a history of Arkansas’ social, political and economic development from pre-history to the present. It is highly recommended that students successfully complete HY 213 (HIST 2113) or HY 223 (HIST 2123) before enrolling in this course.

This course is the study of world civilizations to early modern period. This course surveys the development of society from Paleolithic Era. This course provides the historical context for selected cultures which reflect the development of social, political and economic interactions between major world civilizations. It also includes an examination of religion, philosophy, and rhetoric as reflected in those societies. Students enrolled in the course will develop and utilize critical thinking and communication skills in order to gain a global and historical perspective.

United States History Since 1877, HY 223 (HIST 2123), is a general survey of the history of the United States from the end of the Civil War to the present. Previous experience in the course U.S. History to 1877 would be helpful, but not required.
