Students should expect to spend approximately three hours per week on coursework for each credit hour enrolled. This includes time spent in class or other instructional activities, as well as time spent studying, reading, completing assignments, and preparing for class.
For example, during a standard semester:
- A three-credit-hour course requires approximately nine hours of work per week.
- A four-credit-hour course requires approximately twelve hours of work per week, including any required laboratory activities.
Accelerated courses cover the same amount of material in a shorter period of time. In an eight-week term, students should expect approximately 18 hours of work per week for a three-credit-hour course and 24 hours per week for a four-credit-hour course.
Online and hybrid courses have the same academic expectations as face-to-face courses. Instruction and interaction with the instructor take place through Blackboard and may include assignments, discussions, feedback, virtual meetings, and other course activities.
